Energy Saving Trainings held in four Croatian cities

In December 2018, four trainings were held in the four cities of Croatia, Zadar, Rijeka, Osijek and Velika Gorica, in the framework of the Compete4Secap project (C4S). Organised by the national coordinator, DOOR, the participants were employees of public institutions and city offices whose buildings are part of the C4S european energy efficiency competition.

The competition will take place in 2019, and a total of 12 public buildings from Zadar, Rijeka, Osijek and Velika Gorica will participate in Croatia. Newly trained employees will motivate their colleagues to take simple measures such as turning off office appliances and unnecessary lighting, reducing heating and cooling, and so on, achieving energy savings in the buildings.

The trainings were the opportunity to visit the offices of the buildings and see where and how extra energy is spent. Although there are good examples, where employees are careful with turning off lights and computers after working hours, however in several offices  open windows and heating were noticed, as well as empty workstations with stand-by devices and so on.

Trainings were done by identifying simple action plans for the competition period for each office, and employees are divided into two groups that will look at: tools (time switches) and materials (labels, thermometers, brochures, etc.) for motivation.
