Introducing the French Teams competing for SECAPs

France is not only excellent for food, wine and sightseeing but also for energy efficiency!

Our 4 participating local authorities are Brest Metropolis and City (8 municipalities – 212 000 inhabitants), Caen La Mer and City of Caen  (47 municipalities – 418 000 inhabitants) City of Lorient (58 000 inhabitants), and Grand Montauban and City of Montauban (11 municipalities – 75 000 inhabitants).

Our local authorities are all energy and climate active and awarded by the European Energy Award, called Cit’ergie in France.

Taking part in this competition is for them an opportunity to raise awareness among employees about energy consumptions and savings, to manage energy efficiently and ultimately, to take their action plan even further by turning them from SEAPs to SECAPs.

12 municipal buildings, including town halls, a police station, a library, a school and a sports hall have committed to change their habits in order to save as much energy as possible, hoping to take the project prize home! All teams are competing very actively!

Some communities have chosen common meetings with many participants to share amongst participating buildings, others have opted for working meetings in small committees closer to their building.

As a first challenge, each building has to send a picture of an energy saving practice they apply at work or what most represents this approach and send it to their local partner. The winner will be granted a prize!"

In preview, here are two photos well classified among those received. But we are still waiting for more in the coming days.... The selection of the best photo will be made in July.
